Botulotoxin
Botulinum toxin. This neurotoxic protein causes chemical denervation at the injected location, blocking the nerve impulses that cause muscle contractions. In esthetic dermatology it is used to improve the appearance of the so called frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead lines, crow wrinkles, vertical wrinkles around the upper lip, and also smoothing neck wrinkles. In addition it can also be used to prevent undesired sweating of the palms, feet and armpits.
Treatment Procedure
Small botulinum toxin doses are applied by a very thin needle into muscles. The treatment is almost painless and short: the entire treatment, including the necessary information, will be completed in less than 30 minutes. The only after-treatment recommendations include limited bend-down movements, no gymnastics, sauna or swimming for several days.
Undesirable After-Effects
PSome burning or headache is possible. These complications are just temporary and quite scarce, often disappearing in several hours. In general, however, such undesirable reactions develop only in 0.5 – 5% of cases.
The Results of Botulinum Toxin Treatment
Its effects will be noticeable in two to five days, with the full effect appearing in 14 days and lasting three to six months after treatment.

Dermal filler injections, Facial implants
Most frequently used dermal filler at present is hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the in the skin, connecting tissue, eyes and joints. Absorbing water, it adds moisture, elasticity and volume to the skin, and increases its regenerative ability.
Hyaluronic acid fillings are suitable in case of nasal and labial skin folds and furrows, mouth corners turned down, deep wrinkles under and around the eyes. In the forehead area it is used together with botulinum toxin for extra deep wrinkles between the brows. Uneven facial parts and deep scars can be successfully filled and lips augmented.
Hyaluronic acid is safe, gradually absorbed and causes no allergic reactions, therefore no prior skin testing is necessary. .
The Procedure
Anesthetic cream is applied for 30 minutes before hyaluronic acid is injected by a very thin needle. For lip augmentation, local dental anesthetic is used. The session may be 15-30 minutes long depending on the amount of corrected areas. Immediately or soon after injection, the site may become red and swollen, but it usually disappears within a week. Cooling gel sacks or Lioton gel may help during home stay. No bathing, swimming or sauna is recommended after the session.
A check up is planned after the swelling disappears, i.e. usually in one week.
A new filler may be necessary after three or six months to achieve the desired correction.
The following products containing hyaluronic acid are used in our Center with short-term results (8 - 12 months in the skin, and 8 – 12 months in the lips): Restylane, Perlane (from Sweden), Juviderm (from France), Teosyal , Princess, Esthelis, Viscofill and Aquamid, the permanent filler (several years). Remake for 2 years result.
